Streamscription ("the app") helps you organise the YouTube channels and playlists you are interested in and save videos to watch later. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the app and how, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and applicable Italian law.

In short: the app is designed to run entirely on your device. We operate no servers of our own, we create no accounts, we collect none of your personal data, we perform no tracking and we show no advertising.

1. Data controller

The data controller is Peter Vogric. For any request concerning this policy or the exercise of your rights, you can write to: petervogric@gmail.com.

2. Nature of the app: no server, no account

The app has no proprietary backend and requires no registration or login for its core features. The content you create (channels and playlists you add, groups, saved videos, preferences) is stored locally on your device in an app database. The controller has no access to this data.

3. Data processed and purposes

3.1 User-created data (on device only)

Public identifiers of the YouTube channels/playlists you add;
Videos you save to your watch lists (title, channel, thumbnail, URL);
Your settings and how you organise your groups.

Purpose: to provide the app's features. This data does not leave your device, except as described in section 4 (copies in the operating system's cloud: iCloud sync on iOS, automatic backup on Android).

3.2 Network requests to YouTube/Google

To show you updates from channels and playlists, the app downloads YouTube's public RSS feeds (youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml) and the corresponding thumbnails from Google's servers (e.g. *.ytimg.com). Like any ordinary web request, these transmit your IP address and basic technical information (e.g. device type) to Google. That data is processed by Google as an independent controller, under Google's Privacy Policy. The app sends Google no additional identifying data and does not use Google's authenticated APIs.

Legal basis: performance of the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and the legitimate interest in making the app work (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3.3 Opening videos

When you tap a video, the app opens the link in the YouTube app or in your system browser. From that point on, YouTube's/Google's terms and privacy policy apply.

4. Copies of your data in the operating system's cloud

The app has no cloud storage of its own. On both platforms, however, your data may be copied into the cloud service run by the maker of your operating system, which the controller can never access. The two platforms behave differently, and the difference is deliberate.

4.1 iCloud sync (iOS only)

On Apple devices, if syncing is enabled, the app saves a copy of your data in your own private iCloud container (iCloud.com.streamscription.streamscription), so that it stays in sync across your devices signed in to the same Apple Account. This data resides in your own iCloud storage and is processed by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. The controller has no access to it. You can turn syncing off at any time in the app's Settings.

4.2 System automatic backup (Android only)

On Android there is no continuous syncing between devices: two phones used in parallel do not converge. There is a backup instead, and it serves one purpose — getting your content back when you install the app on a new device.

The app writes a file (streamscription_backup.json) into its own private folder on the device, holding the groups, channels and playlists you added and the videos you saved. That file is then collected by Android Auto Backup — by the operating system, not by the app — and copied into the backup space tied to your Google account, alongside the data of the other apps on your phone. When you reinstall the app, or install it on another device, Android puts the file back and the app restores its contents once, on first launch.

The app performs no sign-in, uses no Google API and talks to no cloud service: the whole operation is carried out by the operating system according to your phone's backup settings. This data resides in your own Google backup space and is processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. The controller has no access to it. You can turn the backup off, or delete data already copied, from Android Settings → Google → Backup.

5. What we do NOT do

No account, no login for the core features;
No analytics tools, no tracking SDKs;
No advertising, no profiling, no cross-app or cross-site tracking;
No sale or sharing of your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. In-app purchases

This version of the app is free and does not enable in-app purchases. Paid features managed through the stores (App Store / Google Play), and possibly through the provider RevenueCat, may be introduced in the future; should that happen, this policy will be updated accordingly before they go live.

7. Data retention

Data you create in the app stays on your device until you delete it from the app or uninstall the application. Any synced data stays in your iCloud until you delete it; on Android, the copy collected by the system backup stays in your Google space until you turn the backup off or delete its data from your phone's settings (Google also deletes backups of apps left unused for an extended period automatically). The controller retains no data, having no copy of it.

8. Your rights (Arts. 15–22 GDPR)

Because your data is stored on your device (and, depending on the platform, in your own iCloud or in your Google account's backup), you control it directly: you can view it, change it, export it (group sharing) and delete it at any time from within the app, or remove it entirely by uninstalling the app and deleting the related data from iCloud or from Android's backup settings. You also have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. For requests addressed to the controller, write to petervogric@gmail.com. Finally, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

8.1 Notice for United States residents

We do not collect, sell or share personal information, including as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. Because no personal information is collected by the controller, there is nothing to access, delete, correct or opt out of; we do not discriminate against anyone for exercising any privacy right. The same applies under comparable state privacy laws.

9. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 (under 14 in Italy, per the age set by Italian law implementing the GDPR) and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. In any case, the app collects no personal data on behalf of the controller.

10. International transfers

Network requests to Google/YouTube, on iOS the use of Apple's iCloud, and on Android the automatic backup operated by Google may involve the processing of data (e.g. your IP address, or the contents of the backup described in section 4.2) on servers located outside the European Union, including in the United States. Such transfers are handled by Google and Apple as independent controllers, on the basis of the safeguards provided for by the GDPR (e.g. standard contractual clauses). 11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app or to the law. The updated version will be published at this address with a new "last updated" date.
